My Winter Skincare Routine

09:09 Unknown 0 Comments

Since writing my last post on my skincare routine, mostly all of it has changed so I thought it was time to create another post involving my autumn/winter skin regime. My skin is dry and sensitive so I do have to be careful with what I use but all these products have definitely been agreeing with my skin.

To prep and cleanse the skin, I've recently started using Liz Earle's famous cleanse and polish hot cloth cleanser which has been working a treat removing my makeup. However, I've also been loving Clinique's take the day off balm which I've also been loving to remove my makeup. This is a little better to remove makeup when you've been wearing a lot as it really breaks down your makeup and removes instantly without having to go back in to remove with cleansing water. As usual, I'm still loving Neutrogena's pink grapefruit cleansing duo which this has to be the 5th round of these! They just make by skin so clear and fresh.

To tone the skin I've been using the Vitamin E toning mist from Superdrug which has been giving me a quick hydration before applying my Avene Hydrance serum which I've only just recently bought as had my eye on it for a while. This is very light and feels very hydrating on the skin the only downfall is the price mark is a little high for this small bottle, I managed to get it in Boots with some money off but thats the only thing that puts me off from buying it again. To moisturise my skin I've been using Garnier Moisture Bomb which has been pretty good for providing good moisture to my skin. I'm still using the Simple nourishing eye roll on and its good but nothing special can't seem to find a good eye cream at the moment. Lastly, the lip balm I'm using is Paw Paw Papaya moisturising balm which is also pretty good, it's also good for any small patches of dry skin on your body, I've been using it on some horrible dry patches on my hands and its been working a treat.

Lastly, I've been using a new mask from Liz Earle and this was a gift to me and I've been using this just on where I get blemishes so around my nose and chin. I've only used this a couple of times, this is quite strong so I'm only going to use it maybe once a month when I really need to clear those areas. as it is a deep cleansing mask. Also in the evenings instead of using a night cream I've been using coconut oil and this has been making my skin feel so soft at night and reducing the dry areas on my skin that I get this time of year.

What are your favourite winter skincare picks?

New In: Beauty Haul #1

08:42 Unknown 0 Comments

Recently, I went into my local Boots to pick up a good lip balm and came out with 6 more things, this happens to me every single time I just get so intrigued with offers that are on and can't contain myself. I always persuade myself that I need one more thing but always turns into a long trip to Boots. Oh well...

I was always looking for a new moisturiser to top my Simple Moisture Cream as it's so cheap and wanted to find another one which was just as good. I'd seen this moisture bomb range been advertised so much and heard some good things about it. I picked up the moisturiser to try out and to see whether it lives up to the standards of being 'super hydrating'. I wanted to get a new eye cream but I came across this eye roll on which claims to be good for tired eyes in the morning as the metal ball is good for soothing morning eyes and to make them look less puffy. The only thing I went into Boots for was a good lip balm as I've run out of my last one and wanted one to keep my lips really hydrated as it's gotten so cold now and my lips always get so chapped and uncomfortable.

I love NYX lip products but never tried their base products but I've seen some good reviews on this concealer so I wanted to try it out. Talking about their lip products I did pick up two new additions to my collection. I picked up one of their butter lipsticks which looked so moisturising but applying a really nice pigmented colour. I also picked up one of their butter glosses which actually goes perfectly with the lipstick. They are so pigmented and not a sticky consistency which is good and I really like how moisturising they are too but supply a really nice finish.

I also picked up the most loved on the internet, False Lash Sculpt Mascara. I've heard so many good things about this mascara so I'm excited to see what the hype is all about and if it lives up to my favourite atm; Maybelline Lash Sensational.
I wanted to get a brown kohl pencil for my water line to achieve a complete smokey eye which I've been loving atm so I found a cheap one from Maybelline and it offers the perfect brown shade for the water line which isn't as harsh as black.

What have you picked up recently at the drugstore?

My Top 3 Reads

09:45 Unknown 0 Comments

I go through phases of reading so much to reading pretty much nothing! At the moment I'm such a book worm and reading so much but some books have really disappointed me but there are some which I've really been loving.

Divergent Trio
I'm calling these three books 1 one of my favourite reads as they all come together. I loved reading this series and I couldn't help but what to carry on reading until I was finished. I read these books pretty quickly because of this, I really enjoyed the action in them and the love story that falls behind it. I really recommend these books if you liked The Hunger Games then I think you would enjoy these, this series is quite old because the films are also out but I didn't manage to watch the films until after I read them which I also recommend especially with action books otherwise you know whats going to happen.

All The Right Places
I read this while I was on holiday and it lasted me the whole week away, it was a very easy read with such a nice story to go with it. It's about a boy and a girl who become friends and it's a very different 'love' story to the other books out there. It's similar to John Green books which I really enjoyed as well as they are so easy to read and don't have much of a massive storyline for you to be fully involved in the story if that makes sense! But I really do recommend it if you liked John Green's books and love an easy read.

The Girl On The Train
This was the most recent read, I've just finished it and I loved it! It's such an easy read and it's got a great story line that gets you hooked and I never wanted to put this book down and finished it pretty quickly! I really recommend this book to everyone and it's probably one of my favourites out of all the books I've read - which is a big statement; I've read quite a few!

What are your favourite books of all time?

My Summer Skincare Routine

CLEANSING
When washing my face I've been using Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash (£4.79) for many years and it's always kept my skin clear, soft and smell so good. To exfoliate I've been using Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Scrub (£4.79) which I've also been using for a while too, it's very gentle on my skin but still does the job well. When removing my makeup I've been using micellar water for a while and the Garnier Cleansing Water (£3.33 on offer at Boots) is by far the best, it removes waterproof mascara and tough liquid lipsticks, this is my third bottle of it it's that good! I've also started using a cleansing oil to see the difference and it does help to remove a lot of eye makeup and lipsticks if they are a struggle. The one I've been using is No7 Cleansing Oil (£11) and so far it's been good, I've heard about others so might try them out too, but at the moment I'm enjoying this one.

SKINCARE
To begin with I've been using the Vitamin E Refreshing Toning Mist (£2.99) to spritz my face with before applying anything else. Then I've been going in with the Super Facialist Brighten Glow Boost Serum (£16.99) to soften the skin. After that's sunken in, I've been applying my moisturiser; this is one I've loved for many years, it's the Simple Moisture Cream (£3.33 on offer at Boots). Then going in with eye cream using The Body Shop Aloe Eye Defence which I've been using for a while and it's pretty good, it's nearly finished so I'll be buying something else to see if something else is better and cheaper. The lip balm I use is the Neutrogena Norwegian Lip Care (£2.89) it's very moisturising and keeps my lips hydrated and was really good on holiday as it has SPF 20.

MASKS
The only mask I've been using is the L'oreal Pure Clay Detox Mask (£7.99) which has been really good for clearing my skin when it's had some blemishes or when my skin is feeling rubbish it brings everything out and makes my skin feel soft again. This is the only detox mask I've used and I really like, I definitely want to try out the other ones from the range.

Favourites of the Month: August

07:32 Unknown 0 Comments

As the weather has changed drastically I've switched up my everyday makeup and I've discovered some really good products. Some are old favourites and some are new but I'm really enjoying how they look on my face at the moment.

I purchased the Super Facialist by Una Brennan Vitamin C+ Brighten Glow Boost Skin Serum (£11.33 its on offer in Boots at the moment) as I was drawn to the name and the smell of it. It smells very citrusy and was looking for a serum to brighten up my skin as its been a little dehydrated and dull looking. So far I've been loving it, it makes my skin feel velvety soft and it's inexpensive which is always a plus.
A couple of months ago I bought the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream (£9.99) before I went on holiday because I thought it would be the perfect base for the evenings when I was abroad as I don't like heavy makeup in the sun and it usually just melts off. Ever since I've been back I've used it everyday, it creates such a dewy my skin but better base and I love it! It's perfect for when its warm and just evens my skin tone out. To apply the CC cream I've been using a buffing brush as I found this really applies the product effortlessly and streak free, also can be applied with a beauty sponge. The Nanshy Flawless Foundation Brush F01 (£9.95) has been a favourite for many months but I've used it so much recently I thought I'd give it a mention. Also it's inexpensive, similar to Real Technique prices and the same quality.

I wanted to get a loose powder as I've seen they give off a much more flawless finish than a pressed powder, and I thought as my skin is dry I'd rather get something that doesn't settle into any dry patches. As you can tell by the pot there is now writing left as it has been well loved! It's the Rimmel Match Perfection Loose Powder (£6.99) which is a great powder for setting under the eyes and around the face, it's very light and doesn't feel cakey at all which is what I really like about it. To apply the loose powder I've started using the B. Beauty Sponge (£4.99) instead of using a brush and I've found this gives off an airbrush effect and is useful because I use this sponge for concealer and other cream products. This is very similar to the Real Techniques sponge but doesn't have the flat edge but as this one is cheaper I thought I'd try it and I've really been enjoying using it. The primer I've started using after finishing the Loreal Lumi Magique is the Seventeen Skin Wow Primer (£4.99 on offer at Boots at the moment) as I wanted to find a similar one which was cheaper and I came across this for only £5 and I swatched it and was amazed at the pay off this gave. When this is applied it gives a very luminous glow which I really like as a primer and it shows off underneath foundations and bb creams which I found difficult for the Lumi Magique, so for half the price I was happy with that!

Maybelline Master Contour Duo Stick
I've been using the Rimmel Kate Moss Sculpting Palette (£6.99) for a while now and the bronzer is by far my favourite from the palette it's a perfect shade for my skin tone as I'm Maybelline Master Contour Duo Stick (£6.99) is a recent purchase and so far I've been loving it it's perfect to carve out the cheek bones and blends so nicely with a sponge. The highlighter is good too I use this mostly under my eyes and on the bridge of my nose, it also blends away seamlessly with its creamy texture.
pretty fair. The highlighter isn't very pigmented but good for minimal makeup days and the blusher is nice but at the moment I've not been needing blusher. The

I have just jumped on the hype of getting Maybelline's Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze (£4.99). I heard about it so long ago that it was amazing but never managed to get around to buying it, now I have and I love it! I love the colour tattoo formula anyway and I really like the colour of this and the way it looks on my lids. I've also recently purchased Maybelline Lash Sensational (£7.99) which I've fallen in love with it makes my lashes look so fluttery and long which is the look I like to go with when wearing mascara. Lastly, the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm (£5.50) I've been loving this shade on neutral makeup days as it's the perfect peachy nude for my skin tone and I had a few of these and love the texture and longevity.
